Eating Healthy #3:Simple Switches!
There are many reasons why we need to cut out certain foods from our diets. The list is very long but here are a few reasons:
*Some foods support cancer
*Some additives in our foods are there JUST to make them addictive! The companies are not worried about the nutritional quality of the foods. They just want you to come back for more! Just like cigarette companies add nicotine to cigarettes. MSG anyone? Hydrogenated oils anyone??
*Lots of additives and food colorings are actually lab made chemicals linked to many disease, illnesses, fatigue, mood swings, migraines, nerve damage, aches of the body and joints, etc.
If you feel sleepy or hungry right after you eat, chances are you are not eating the right foods your body needs for fuel and function. If you eat the right foods you will feel full and energized after eating. The foods you should avoid are:
*Processed foods. Anything in a pre-packaged bag or box is most likely bad for you. If you must buy these pre-packaged food when your in a pinch for time look for those that are labeled "USDA Certified Organic". Even if the label says "organic" it might not be good for you. "USDA Certified Organic" is the only organic label you should feel safe with.
*Any sort of Soda. Well, don't get me started on that! It's BAD NEWS! All of it! We drink it now and then as a treat when we go out to eat.
*Animal products! While I don't plan on going vegan any time soon, it's a good idea to cut back on your animal product intake. This includes milk, cheese, meats, ect. When you do buy animal products look for the "USDA Certified Organic" and that the meat is from free range animals. That way you know your not getting those weird additives and steroids they give the animals now a days. (This is why young girls are now hitting puberty 3 years earlier than what use to be considered normal)
*Lots of canned items are bad to. If you get your veggies from the can wash them for at least 30 seconds. If you don't want to make your own stock then buy low sodium. :)
